The Field Called Wonder is a great way to get to know each other better outside of normal Sunday Assembly events. Although this event has been created by SA Reading, people from any Sunday Assembly and their friends are welcome to book and join in.

We are returning to Chiltern Retreat Caravan & Camping site (Parmoor Park Farm), which is just outside High Wycombe, and about 35 mins drive from Reading. Facilities have been upgraded and moved closer, you’ll be pleased to know.

The weekend is ideal for anyone who has been to the Assembly and wants to get more out of it. We would love people from other Assemblies to come along too.

What's included in the price

All tickets include main meals, teas and coffees and activities. Camping/weekend tickets include camping in whatever tent you bring or share. Let us know if you need to borrow any camping equipment or space in a tent and we'll ask around.

What will happen

We are still designing the programme, but like last year, it will be a mix of walks, games, beers, fires, chatting, food, music, African drumming, line dancing, group singing, acroyoga, guitar lessons), hula hoop tricks and general hanging out and much more. At the Field we create our own entertainment, there is no audience and there are no performers. And that is what makes it special. If you there is an activity you could lead that you think others would enjoy then let us know and we’ll make space for you.

Camping and Arriving

We will arrive on the late afternoon or evening of Friday 8th June and leave late the following Sunday afternoon. If you can only make one day, no problem. If you don’t want to camp but hang with us during the day, no problem. There are also a number of B&B and pubs with accommodation nearby. Last year we found people who stayed the whole weekend got by far the most from the event.

Our main costs are hiring the lovely field and basic foodstuffs which will include a vegan lunch and supper for each day, and teas and coffees. You are welcome to supplement that if you feel the need. More food details to come.

We’ve aimed to make the Weekend as accessible and inclusive as possible while ensuring a small amount of money goes into Sunday Assembly Reading’s funds. If your family structure does not fit nicely into the ticket bands, please contact us and I’m sure we can work something out.

Limited Availability

We have control of how we use the field so we need to be mindful of numbers. Once you have booked your place, please contact us with the rough size and number of tents you are bringing. It would also be helpful to have guesstimates of your arrival time.
